Russian FM Arrives in India to Take Part in SCO Ministerial Meeting

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived Thursday in India to take part in a ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The top SCO diplomats will discuss the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the SCO heads of state due in New Delhi on July 3-4, (TASS) news agency reported.

Along with the participation in the ministerial meeting, Lavrov is expected to hold a number of bilateral meeting, in particular with his counterparts from India, Pakistan, and China, TASS said.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a Eurasian international political, economic, security organization established on June 15, 2001 in Shanghai, by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In June 2017, India and Pakistan officially joined SCO as full-members.

9 Palestinians Injured during Clashes with Occupation Forces, Dozens Suffocated

Nine Palestinians were injured, while dozens others suffocated by toxic gas during confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces in the towns of Beit Rima and Nabi Saleh, northwest of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

According Palestinian news agency (WAFA), large units of the Israeli occupation forces raided the said towns late at night, sparking confrontations which resulted in injuring six Palestinians by live bullets in the lower body parts.

Dozens of Palestinians suffered from suffocation due to inhaling the tear gas bombs fired at them by the occupation soldiers around the houses, WAFA added.

Local sources reported that the Israeli forces deliberately set a vehicle owned by a Palestinian resident on fire after targeting it with several gas bombs, and several properties were damaged.

Meanwhile, three Palestinians were injured by Israeli gunfire during confrontations in Nabi Saleh town at dawn Thursday.

Six soldiers, three militants killed in fire exchange N. Pakistan

At least six Pakistan Army soldiers and three militants were killed on Thursday during an exchange of fire with militants in Pakistan’s northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, reported the military.

According to a statement by Pakistan’s military’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), an exchange of fire took place between “terrorists” and Pakistani army troops in the Dir Duni area of North Waziristan district of KPK.

ISPR confirmed that six soldiers of the Pakistan army were killed during the “intense exchange of fire”, adding that three militants were killed while two others were injured.

In a statement issued by PM House, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to those killed in the incident and their bereaved families.

Shooting leaves seven teachers dead in N. Pakistan

At least seven teachers were killed in a shooting spree inside a school Thursday in Pakistan’s northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province bordering Afghanistan on Thursday, said officials.

A senior police official, District Police Officer Mohammad Imran told media that seven teachers were killed in a shooting incident in a school in Parachinar area of Upper Kurram district of KPK.

The teachers, who were at the school to perform examination duties, were inside the staffroom when unknown assailants opened fire on them.

The attackers managed to flee the area after the shooting.

The Deputy Medical Superintendent Qaisar Abbas in the government run district hospital also confirmed the death toll.

An emergency has been imposed in all hospitals of the area.

“The students inside the examination centre remained safe,” confirmed Chairperson of Kohat’s Education Board Samina Altaf.

President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi condemned the attack, grieving the killing of “on-duty teachers.” A statement issued by President House said, “The attack on teachers by the enemies of knowledge is condemnable.” The president expressed hope that the “suspects will be arrested soon and punished according to the law”.

First Kuwaiti planeload of relief supplies arrives in Sudan

The first planeload of Kuwaiti humanitarian supplies arrived in Port Sudan on Thursday signaling actual launch of Kuwait’s humanitarian bridge to relieve the Sudanese people.

The aircraft boarding ten tons of relief supplies, out of a total 75 tons of food and equipment due to be sent in from Kuwait, touched down at noon time.

Commander of the Red Sea military zone, Mohammad Hamad, praised in remarks to KUNA the State of Kuwait’s efforts and its support for the Sudanese nation, noting that the country has always scrambled to aid Sudanese at times of crises, latest of which was last September’s floods. He pledged to ensure delivery of the supplies.

The Kuwaiti Ambassador in Khartoum, Dr. Fahad Al-Dhafiri, told KUUNA that the first Kuwaiti plane arrived in Port Sudan amid local peoples’ greeting, adding that more planeloads of Kuwaiti aid would continue arriving until Monday to bring in a total of 75 tons of the medical and humanitarian materials.

Hospitals and medical centers in Sudan have been heavily damaged since flare-up of the crisis, he said, indicating a large part of the caches contained medical and pharmaceutical supplies.

These aid supplies are being sent in line with directions by the Kuwaiti political leadership to alleviate the Sudanese people’s suffering. He alluded in particular to the decision taken by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to dispatch the aid, along with close follow-up by Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah.

The Kuwaiti Cabinet in its latest session decided to establish the aerial humanitarian bridge to relieve the Sudanese people, with instructions given to Kuwait Red Crescent Society to cooperate with the ministries of health, finance and defense for dispatching the needed assistance immediately within a space of time not exceeding five days.

The planeload of Kuwaiti supplies was the first one to reach Sudan from Kuwait since fighting broke out between the Sudanese Army and paramilitary troops on April 15.

KFAED pays visit to developmental project for Syrian refugees at Arbat Camp, Iraq

A delegation from Kuwait’s Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) visited Thursday a project site in Iraq’s northern province of Kurdistan.

The project, of restructuring the water system, aims to better the living conditions of Syrian refugees in Arbat camp.

The delegation was invited to attend the inauguration of a refugee enlistment center at Bahrka municipality and services around 160,000 refugee, read a statement issued by the fund.

The project, part of Kuwait’s vows at the third Brussels’ conference, aims to raise capacity of water storage, enhance the distribution system.

The statement further detailed that projects comes as part of prior agreement with The UN’s general commission, through which the fund presented a USD 2.6 million grant.

The statement reported on behalf of the fund’s director, Waleed Al-Bahar, as saying that Kuwait has been extending a helping hand to those afflicted all over the globe, especially Syrian refugees, to ease their suffering, provide them with urgent aid and ensure a better lifestyle.

Camp director Bayan Salam, voiced his appreciation for the delegation, spoke briefly on the camp and its facilities, and presented the camp’s most pressing needs as it houses more than 9,000 refugees.

At the end of the visit, the fund’s director honored Salam, and other officials for their extensive efforts.

Governors of southern provinces confirm their support for their provinces’ sons who oppose aggression

The southern provinces governors affirmed their support for the people of their provinces who oppose the occupation and boycott the Southern Consultative Conference, which was called for by some of the puppet components under the directives of the aggression coalition against Yemen.

A statement issued by the governors, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), indicated that the consultative conference did not aim to stop the aggression, lift the siege, remove the occupiers from Yemen and build a modern state based on justice and equality and outside of foreign tutelage.

The statement pointed out that all past experiences and the multiplicity of consultative meetings of parties and other components with their various names, which led to disunity and diaspora and the dominance of certain forces over their outputs, were mostly not in favor of the people of the country, but rather in favor of its enemies.

The statement stressed the emphasis on the unity of the people of the south in general, which leads to the service of the Yemeni homeland, south and north, and not subordination to the aggression forces.

The governors said, “We trust our free sons, men and women, in the occupied southern provinces, and that their obsession is first and foremost with removing the occupier from their lands, achieving independence, and building a unified Yemen on sound religious foundations without any dictates from outside.”

They renewed the call to their brothers and sons, not to be drawn into suspicious calls that are in favor of aggression or in favor of certain regions or parties without others, stressing that they are with the unity of the word and the position that serves the south in particular and Yemen in general.

Supreme Authority for Medicines destroyed 60 tons of smuggled and non-conforming medicines

The Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies destroyed today, Thursday,60 tons of smuggled, non-conforming and counterfeit medicines.

During the destruction process, the Deputy Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Mutahar Al-Marouni, confirmed that the destruction comes within the framework of combating drug smuggling and the continuation of control efforts to seize expired, non-conforming and counterfeit medicines.

He praised the efforts of the Supreme Authority for Medicines in the process of follow-up, control of markets and control of such medicines, stressing the continuation of the Ministry of Health represented by the Supreme Authority for Medicines in monitoring the drug market through its field committees, whether in pharmaceutical facilities or at security points.

Dr. Al-Marouni expressed his hope that drug importers would coordinate with the Supreme Authority for Medicines and commit to importing quality medicines, appropriate prices, conformity to specifications and standards.

For his part, the head of the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies, Dr. Ali Abbas, stated that 60 tons of smuggled, non-conforming, counterfeit and expired medicines were destroyed, stressing that these medicines were seized by the authority’s field committees for the control of pharmaceutical facilities and the drug market, as well as at security points.

Dr. Abbas praised the role of the security services in seizing smuggled and counterfeit medicines at various ports and security points, as well as the authority’s field committees.

The head of the authority called on citizens and pharmacists to report any expired, smuggled or counterfeit medicines that do not conform to specifications and standards in order to preserve the safety of citizens.

He also affirmed that the authority continues to implement campaigns and field visits to control drug wholesalers to verify permits, search for and confiscate smuggled and infringing drugs, as well as verify the storage conditions of medicines.

During the destruction process, in the presence of representatives of the Public Prosecution Office of Industry, Commerce and Environmental Health, Adel Al-Haddad and Bassam Al-Akhali, The Director of the Control Department at the Supreme Authority for Medicines, Dr. Omar Al-Junaid, referred to the Authority’s efforts to provide safe and quality medicine, stop smuggling operations, and prevent the entry of any unsafe medicine to market.

He stressed that the authority’s field monitoring committees confiscate any smuggled, unknown-origin drugs and take legal measures against violators, and refer them to the competent authorities.

Al-Rahwi reviews exceptional exam progress for Arab Fellowship in specialty of emergency and radiology

A member of the Supreme Political Council, Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi, praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health, represented by the Yemeni Council for Medical Specialties, in conducting examinations in the specific medical specialties that the country needs, especially in light of the continued aggression and siege.

Al-Rahwi stressed, during his review, today, of the conduct of the exceptional examination for Arab Fellowship in the emergency specialty and radiology organized by the Council, the importance of the examinations that are conducted via the Internet in conjunction with a number of Arab countries.

He stressed that taking the exams in Yemen represents a success in light of the continued aggression and blockade, as the student can take the exam in Sana’a instead of the hardship and exorbitant costs as a result of traveling abroad.

He said, “The scientific and research activity that Yemen is witnessing recently indicates the keenness of the Yemeni people to keep pace with scientific development and everything new, whether in the medical field or otherwise.”

For his part, the Deputy Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Mutahar Al-Marouni, indicated the ministry’s keenness, through the Yemeni Council for Medical Specialties, to provide the health sector with qualified cadres specialized in various medical specialties in various provinces.

He pointed out that the examination center in Sana’a ranked first in terms of technical equipment and preparation for exams, noting that Yemeni students won the first ranks in the study of the Arab Board fellowship in many medical specialties.

Al-Hamli meets European Union delegation for civil protection and humanitarian aid

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation (SCMCHA) , Ibrahim Al-Hamli, met today ,Thursday, with the Director of Neighborhood and Middle East Operations in the European Union for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid, Andreas Papaconstantinou.

The meeting touched on the cooperation relations between Yemen and the European Union in the humanitarian aspect in light of the worst humanitarian crisis in the world that Yemen is experiencing, as a result of the continued aggression, blockade, and the mechanisms for providing aid in accordance with humanitarian standards, and according to the priorities of actual need in the field.

In the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council welcomed the delegation of the European Union for civil protection and humanitarian aid, praising the efforts of the European Union, in an attempt to alleviate the Yemeni people’s suffering.

He stressed the importance of joint coordination with the Humanitarian Affairs Council, in order to achieve the benefit of providing aid and alleviating the amount of human suffering caused by the aggression coalition against Yemen, indicating that the Council is keen on delivering humanitarian aid to those most in need.

Al-Hamli stressed the need to avoid some shortcomings, focus projects on serving beneficiaries, and reduce the high operating budget that is spent as operating expenses at the expense of beneficiaries in the field, pointing to the importance of localizing humanitarian work.

He pointed to the need to implement development and humanitarian projects in the areas most in need, according to the priorities of need, in a way that contributes to alleviating human suffering, pointing to the importance of implementing development and service projects in parallel with the implementation of humanitarian and relief projects, which would improve the humanitarian and economic conditions in Yemen.

Al-Hamli said that the Council is working hard to facilitate the work of humanitarian action partners in Yemen, in accordance with the standards of humanitarian work, and in line with the laws, principles and values of Yemeni society, and provides a real useful and valuable service to beneficiaries that serve humanitarian work in Yemen.

He stressed that the European Union is committed to continuing supporting Yemen, to provide greater support for Yemen to implement development, service and humanitarian projects in accordance with the standards, commitments of humanitarian action, and to respect the laws, principles and values of Yemeni society.
