Programs to commemorate the so-called “destruction of the Temple” – 340 settlers storm Al-Aqsa

Jerusalem – Ma’an – Dozens of settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday, with preparations for large-scale raids and marches on the anniversary of the so-called “destruction of the Temple.”

340 extremists stormed Al-Aqsa during the morning and afternoon raids, through the Mughrabi Gate, whose keys have been controlled by the occupation authorities since the occupation of Jerusalem, and under the guard of the occupation forces.

The settlers performed prayers during the storming of Al-Aqsa.

The alleged Temple groups and organizations continue to prepare to carry out large-scale and collective raids on Al-Aqsa next Tuesday on the anniversary of the so-called “Destruction of the Temple,” which they called the “Temple Mount Flood,” and they stressed the necessity of participating in the raids on Al-Aqsa.

The Temple organizations also called for participation in the “First Kisufi” conference, to commemorate the “destruction” and to encourage the rebuilding of the Temple in place of Al-Aqsa. The deputy mayor
of the occupation and rabbis will participate in the conference today.

The organizations also called for participation in a ‘human chain’ around the Jerusalem Wall, entitled ‘Chain of Victory.’

We won’t be battleground in clashes that are basically action, reaction between Israel, Iran, says FM, 1st add

Regarding his visit to Tehran, Safadi explained that the Iranian Foreign Minister called him after the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, where he talked about what happened and invited him to visit Tehran, and that His Majesty King Abdullah II directed him to accept the invitation to learn about the Iranian point of view and see what can be done to prevent further destruction in the region, and that he held extensive talks with his Iranian counterpart and met the Iranian president, where he conveyed a message from the King regarding the efforts being made to protect the region from the catastrophic consequences of this escalation.

Safadi said: “What we saw was that the Iranians were very angry about what happened and we said that we condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, which is a war crime and a violation of international law, and what we are saying now and what we in Jordan are putting forward is that we have to focus on the main cause of the escalation if we in the int
ernational community can impose an end to the aggression on Gaza, reject the killing of innocent people, reject the escalation in Lebanon, and reject the escalation, creating a new dynamic with which there will be a reason for everyone who wants security and stability to say let’s give this a chance and prevent more killing and destruction and save the Palestinians from the massacres to which they are subjected, and focus on stopping the aggression and if this is achieved, there are reasons for everyone to push towards achieving security and stability in the region.

Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, said on Saturday, “We in Jordan have emphasized, more than once, that we will not be a battleground in clashes that are basically an action and reaction between Israel and Iran.”

“Let’s be frank, this war or clashes will not end the occupation, will not liberate Palestine, will not end the conflict and all it will do is increase tension, escalation and destruction in the region, and based on that we do our first duty, which is our responsibility towards our citizens, our security and our stability, and we said that we will not be an arena in these clashes for Iran or Israel, and we have clearly and explicitly informed the Iranians and Israelis that we will not allow anyone to violate our airspace and thus jeopardize the lives of our citizens, and to the extent of our abilities and according to our capabilities, we will confront anything that passes over our airspace that we believe poses a threat to us and our citizen
s,” Safadi told Al Arabiya channel in an interview on Saturday evening.

Safadi said, “We condemned the Al-Tabaeen school massacre as a new war crime, added to the hundreds of war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip against the Palestinian people, and we stand today where we have stood since the beginning of the war, seeking and working to stop this aggression, during which Israel committed the worst war crimes known in modern history, including killing children, destroying schools and mosques, using starvation as a weapon and other crimes committed, and telling the whole world that this aggression must stop and stop immediately, and we say that escalation is mainly caused by the continuous Israeli aggression on Gaza, without any deterrent international action, in accordance with international laws that impose real action to stop this aggression.”

“The situations are difficult for everyone, not just Jordan, and the main difficult situation is in Palestine, where the aggression
continues,” Safadi added.

24% of the martyrs of the aggression on Gaza were young people

Ramallah – Ma’an – The Central Bureau of Statistics reported that 24% of the martyrs of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip were young people (26% males, 22% females).

The statistics said in a statement issued today, Sunday, on the occasion of the International Youth Day, which falls on August 12 of each year, that 75% of the martyrs in the West Bank since October 7 are under the age of 30.

The report added that the number of those killed as a result of famine reached 34, and there are about 3,500 children at risk of death due to malnutrition and food shortages, while the number of wounded reached more than 95 thousand, 70% of whom are women and children, in addition to about 10 thousand missing.

He pointed out that based on this data, the estimated growth rate in the Gaza Strip for the year 2023 will decrease from about 2.7% according to the agency’s estimates for the year 2023 to about 1% only during the year 2024, specifically after the middle of the year, as birth and childbearing rates will decre
ase very significantly as a result of couples’ tendency not to have children due to the prevailing conditions, fearing for the health of mothers and children, and the decrease in the number of new marriages during the occupation’s aggression to very low levels.

The age and gender structure of the population is expected to be directly affected as a result of the occupation army’s deliberate targeting of specific population groups such as children and youth, which will lead to a distortion in the shape of the population pyramid, especially at its base. It is worth noting that there is a medium and long-term impact expected to affect the age structure of the population, represented by a decrease in the number of births in the coming years, which represent the basic base of the population pyramid, as a result of targeting the youth group that gives birth or is expected to contribute to giving birth to children in the coming years.

The report pointed out that on the eve of the Israeli occupation’s aggression on
the Gaza Strip, about 5.6 million Palestinians were residing in the State of Palestine, including 1.2 million young men and women (18-29 years old), constituting 22% of the total population in Palestine. By the end of 2023, this percentage in the West Bank reached about 22% compared to 21% in the Gaza Strip.

The report indicated that the number of martyrs since the beginning of the aggression among students enrolled in higher education institutions in Palestine has reached 653 students, 619 of them in the Gaza Strip and 34 of them in the West Bank. Meanwhile, 105 workers in higher education institutions in the Gaza Strip have been killed, while the number of wounded students enrolled in higher education institutions in Gaza has reached 1,406, 1,283 of them in the Gaza Strip and 123 in the West Bank. In addition, more than 197 students enrolled in universities in the West Bank have been arrested.

Data from the Household Survey on Information and Communications Technology, which ended on the eve of the start
of the aggression on the Strip in 2023, indicated that the majority of young people use the Internet and own a smartphone, with about 97% of young people aged 18-29 using the Internet from anywhere; 99% in the West Bank and 92% in the Gaza Strip. The data also showed that 93% of young people owned a smartphone, at a rate of 99% in the West Bank and 83% in the Gaza Strip.

High percentages of young people with higher education degrees

Education is the real investment for Palestinians, given its importance on both the individual and social levels. Data for 2023 indicate that out of every 100 young men and women aged 18-29, there are 18 young men and women who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher. Young women are perhaps the luckiest, as 23 young women out of every 100 young women hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, compared to 14 young men. On the other hand, unemployment rates pose the greatest challenge facing young people in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, as these rates in 2023 in the West Bank reache
d 56% among women and 34% among men. The highest unemployment rates among young people in the West Bank aged 18-29 were recorded among graduates, including those with an intermediate diploma or higher, at 48%, with a clear difference between young men and women, 34% for men and 61% for women.

In the Gaza Strip, estimates indicate that unemployment rates in the fourth quarter of 2023 reached 75%, with the highest unemployment rates among young people aged 18-29 at 95%. It is also estimated that unemployment rates among young people with an intermediate diploma or higher reached about 91%.

About 152 thousand young people work in the informal sector

The number of youth (18-29 years) working in the informal sector in the West Bank in 2023 reached 152,000, of whom 140,200 were males compared to 11,800 females. The percentage of youth working in this sector represents about 44% of the total number of youth workers in Palestine.

Half of young people are not in employment or education/training

The report indicat
ed that 47% of youth (18-29 years) were outside the labor market and education/training (youth not engaged in work or education/training) in the West Bank in 2023; and the highest among females than males, reaching 61% for females compared to 34% for males.

Independent Commission: The “Tabi’in” Massacre is a New Episode of the Genocide Perpetrated by Israel Against Our People

Ramallah – Ma’an – The Independent Commission for Human Rights (the Board of Grievances) strongly condemned the horrific massacre carried out by the Israeli occupation army against unarmed displaced civilians in the Al-Tabi’in School in the Al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City, on August 10.

The Authority said, “Israeli warplanes surprised hundreds of civilians in the aforementioned school with three heavy bombs, while they were performing the dawn prayer, which led to the martyrdom of about a hundred people, including children and the elderly, and the wounding of dozens of others, some of whom were seriously injured. This attack was preceded by ten crimes of bombing shelters since the beginning of this month, with a premeditated intention to physically liquidate them in order to achieve the genocidal intentions of the occupying state.”

He added, “With the deterioration of health conditions and Israel targeting the hospitals in the Strip, death is a serious threat to the injured or they may become disabled, a
s is the case with thousands of injured people, whom the occupying state refuses to allow to leave Gaza in search of treatment and to save their lives.”

The Commission said, “This horrific massacre against defenseless civilians, who fled the horrors of war to a school they believed was safe according to international law, is nothing but a new episode in the series of genocide that Israel continues to implement in all its components against civilians in the Gaza Strip for the eleventh month. It is evidence of the brutality of Israel, which has begun to act without limits, taking advantage of the lack of real and decisive pressure from the international community to stop it, force it to respect international humanitarian law, and abide by the decisions of the International Court of Justice and the Security Council of the United Nations regarding the war on Gaza.”

‘The continuation of the genocide, including through the deliberate killing of civilians and the cutting off of the people’s lineage in Gaza by kill
ing their children and preventing their births, has caused great damage to the global human conscience. At the very least, the international community (states and organizations) continues to stand by and watch and does not do what is required of it to save the lives of people in Gaza from the Israeli war machine, which continues to persevere in the extermination of people there without regard to international humanitarian law and its established principles, including the principle of proportionality and military necessity,’ she continued.

The Independent Commission expressed “our deep sorrow, regret and solidarity with the victims and their families in Gaza. As we are increasingly frustrated by the inability of the international legal system to stop the genocide and provide justice to the people of Gaza, we call on the countries of the world, especially those that have relations with Israel – the occupying state – to put real pressure on it, including by stopping the export of weapons and severing diplomatic
and trade relations, to force it to stop the genocide against civilians in the Gaza Strip, and in particular real pressure to implement the decision of the International Court of Justice issued on January 26, 2024, which stipulates imposing temporary measures on Israel to prevent the completion of the genocide in the Gaza Strip, and to implement Security Council Resolutions No. (2728) on the ceasefire, and No. (2720) on expanding the access of aid to Gaza.”

We call on the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to expand the scope of his criminal investigations into the war of extermination in Gaza to include the massacre of the Tabeen School and the centers that preceded it that housed the displaced, and we urge him to adopt the description of genocide for Israel’s actions and attribute them to it, and we also hope that the Pre-Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court will expedite its response to the request of the Prosecutor of the Court submitted to it on 20 May 2024 regarding the issuanc
e of arrest warrants against Israeli officials responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity involved in committing them in the Gaza Strip.
