Commission Of Integrity Arrests 6 Accused Of Bribery And Failure To Perform Their Job Duties In Diwaniyah

The Investigation Department of the Commission of Integrity announced the arrest of (6) suspects accused of bribery, and that they did not carry out their job duties in Diwaniyah, indicating that among the accused was an officer in the provincial police command.

The department indicated that the staff of the Investigation and Judicial Enforcement Division in the Commission’s investigation office in Diwaniyah managed, in a qualitative operation that took place after close follow-up and high coordination, to trap an officer with the rank of first lieutenant in the act of receiving a bribe inside the office of the provincial police chief.

It added, “The officer, who works as a personal escort of the Diwaniyah police chief, was caught red-handed in the police chief’s office when he received a bribe from one of the associates, in return for dismissing him and allowing him not to work without noticing his absence, explaining that the process was carried out according to a judicial note, and according to the provisions of the law.”

It indicated, “The staff of the division seized (3) employees of Diwaniyah municipality assigned to the tasks of the collection committee in one of the parking lots in the center of the governorate, on the background of their failure to perform their duties assigned to them according to the collection order, and causing them to waste public money, in addition to assigning them to two non-employees who have been arrested to do the collection in their place, pointing to the arrest of the accused, based on the provisions of Article (240) of the amended Penal Code No. (111 of 1969).
