Minister of Health Mai Alkaila announced today that two people have died of coronavirus, 521 new cases were recorded, and 445 patients have recovered across Palestine in the last 24 hours.
In her daily coronavirus report, Alkaila said two people, aged 74 and 85, died in the West Bank district of Nablus and in the town of Beit Hanoun in the Gaza Strip respectively.
On the geographic distribution of the new infections, she noted that in the West Bank, 95 cases were reported in Nablus, 46 in Ramallah, 32 in Bethlehem, 19 in Salfit, 18 in Hebron, 14 in Jenin, 12 in Tulkarm, five in the West Bank side of the Jerusalem Governorate, 4 in Jericho, and two in Qalqilya. In occupied East Jerusalem, 76 new cases were recorded, and 198 in the Gaza Strip.
Alkaila also noted a total of 445 recoveries were registered in Palestine, of which 226 were in the West Bank, 76 in East Jerusalem, and 187 in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Health Minister, the rate of recovery has so far reached 88.4 percent of the total cases since the start of the pandemic in March, whereas active cases reached 10.7 percent and deaths stood at 0.9 percent.
She pointed out that 39 coronavirus patients remain in intensive care, of whom nine are on respirators.
