Decrease in Construction Cost Index in August, says statistics bureau

RAMALLAH, The Construction Cost Index (CCI) for residential buildings decreased in August by 0.07% in the West Bank compared with July, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said on Tuesday.

The decrease was due to the decrease in the prices of raw materials by 0.11% and the slight decrease of rental of equipment by 0.07%. At the same time, labor wages remained stable during August compared with the previous month.

CCI for non-residential buildings also decrease by 0.05% in the West Bank during August compared with July due to decrease in rental of equipment by 0.10% and the slight decrease of the prices of raw materials by 0.07%. Labor wages remained stable.

CCI for skeleton buildings also decreased by 0.02% due to the decrease in rental of equipment by 0.14% and in the prices of raw materials by 0.02%. Labor wages remained stable.

The overall Road Cost Index (RCI) decreased by 0.78% due to the decrease in the prices of raw materials by 1.26% and rental of equipment by 0.19%, while operating costs of equipment and maintenance increased by 0.42%. Labor wages remained stable.

The overall Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI) decreased by 0.52%, Water Networks Cost Index decreased by 0.64%, and Water Reservoirs Cost Index decreased by 0.23% during August compared with the previous month.

The overall Sewage Networks Cost Index (SNCI) also decreased by 0.39% in the West Bank during August compared with July.
