Egypt and Turkey agree on the need to complete the elections process in Libya as soon as possible.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister, “Sameh Shoukry,” and his Turkish counterpart, “Mevlut Cavusoglu,” agreed on the necessity of completing the elections process in Libya as soon as possible and preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Shoukry said in a joint press conference with Davutoglu today, Thursday, in Ankara, that the talks session that was held today dealt with developments in Libya and the common desire to unify Libyan institutions.

For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu confirmed that his country will work with the Egyptian side to strengthen cooperation on Libya, pointing to his country’s desire to develop joint relations with Egypt.

Davutoglu added that the problems in Libya affect Egypt, pointing out that restoring relations with Egypt would be against the interests of terrorist groups in the region.

He continued, “We want to develop joint relations with Egypt, especially economic ones … and we want to fill the new page that we opened with Egypt with joint projects and success stories.”
