Foreign Ministry condemns Israel’s placing of Jerusalem’s Palestinian governor under house arrest

RAMALLAH, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today strongly condemned the Israeli occupation authorities “insidious targeting” of the Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith after a court sentenced him to house arrest.

The Ministry considered the house arrest of the Governor, his repeated detention, and high fines “part of the crime against humanity of persecution against the Palestinian people in Jerusalem and the severe discrimination against them that aims at denying them their fundamental rights, including to political representation and self-determination.”

The Ministry called on the international community, including the United Nations, to demand that the Israeli colonial occupation authorities stop this persecution of Ghaith immediately and to rescind the unlawful measures against him and other Palestinian officials.
