Israel issues administrative detention orders against 40 Palestinians

RAMALLAH, Sunday, Israeli authorities recently issued administrative detention orders against 40 Palestinians, said a statement issued by the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

PPS said eight orders were issued against Palestinian detainees for the first time, whereas the rest had their administrative detention renewed.

Administrative detention is the imprisonment of Palestinians without charge or trial at orders from a military commander and on the basis of secret evidence. The order normally goes for six-month periods, indefinitely renewable by Israeli military authorities.
