Israeli forces detain 24 Palestinians, injure another in West Bank raids

JENIN, Wednesday, Israeli forces Wednesday detained 24 Palestinians, including seven minors, and injured another with live ammunition during multiple West Bank raids, said Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

Israeli military vehicles raided Jenin refugee camp, where soldiers detained four Palestinians, including a 16-year-old teen, after ransacking their families’ houses.

During ensuing confrontations, Israeli soldiers opened fire towards local youths who protested the raid, injuring a protestor with a live round in the leg and causing several others to suffocate.

Israeli forces also conducted separate two raids into Jenin city and Yaabad town, detaining four Palestinians, including two former prisoners and a 16-year-old teen.

The PPS statement added that another Palestinian was detained from the northern West Bank district of Jenin.

Meanwhile, forces conducted a raid into Kufr Qaddum town, east of Qalqilia, detaining four Palestinians, including two teens, aged 15 and 16.

Similar military raids were reported in the northern West Bank cityof Nablus, particularly the Rafidia and al-Ma’ajin neighborhoods besides to Askar camp, resulting in the detention of three Palestinians, including two former prisoners.

Two others were rounded up from Nablus district, including a Palestinian from Beit Dajan village, east of Nablus city.

In the meantime, forces rounded up a Palestinian after storming and ransacking his family house in Tubas city.

In the southern West Bank, similar overnight raids were reported in Hebron district, specifically in al-Arroub refugee camp besides to Sair and Beit Kahel towns, resulting in the detention of five Palestinians, including 3 16-year-old teens.

Israeli forces frequently conduct large-scale overnight detention raids almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for wanted Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

Clashes often erupt between Palestinian youth who attempt to block soldiers’ passage, throwing stones and empty bottles and are met with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters, often resulting in serious, sometimes fatal, injuries.

According to Palestinian figures, some 6,500 Palestinians continue to languish in Israeli detention facilities, including scores of women and hundreds of minors.
