Israeli forces order stop-construction work on seven houses in Salfit area

Israeli occupation authorities today notified to stop the construction work on seven Palestinian-owned houses in the village of Marda to the north of Salfit, according to a local official.

The Head of Marda village council, Nisfat al-Khafsh, told WAFA that Israeli forces handed several Palestinian residents in the village of Marda notices ordering them to stop the construction work on their homes to the west and south of the village.

Israel prevents Palestinians living in Area C, which makes up more than 60 percent of the area of the West Bank and which is under full Israeli military control, from building anything on their land, forcing residents to build without obtaining rarely-granted permits to provide shelters for their families.

Israel’s planning and building policy in the West Bank is aimed at preventing Palestinian development and dispossessing Palestinians of their land, said the Israeli information center for human rights in occupied territories, B’Tselem.
