Israeli forces rounded up 12 Palestinians from West Bank

RAMALLAH, Israeli forces Tuesday overnight rounded up 12 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to security sources and the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
The sources confirmed that Israeli forces manning Atara checkpoint, at the northern entrance of Birzeit town, north of Ramallah, intercepted a vehicle and detained four Palestinians after assaulting them.
They added that forces barged their way into Kobar town, northwest of Ramallah, where they detained two others after ransacking their families’ houses.
In the northern West Bank, PPS Office said that a Palestinian was rounded close to Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarm city. The detainee was identified as a resident of the nearby area of Khallet Assaf.
It added that another Palestinian was detained as he attempted to cross Dothan checkpoint, southeast of the Jenin-district town of Yaabad. He was identified as a resident of Qiffin town, northeast of Tulkarem.
In Jenin district, Director of PPS Office Muntaser Masnour confirmed that two Palestinian brothers were detained in a predawn raid in Jaba‘ village, southwest of the city.
During the raid, soldiers ransacked the detainees’ family house, turning it upside down and destroying its contents.
In Hebron district, Israeli military vehicles stormed Beit Ummar town, north of the city, where soldiers searched several houses and detained two teens.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
