Nine people, including children, were injured as a result of a shooting that occurred on Hollywood Beach in the US state of Florida.

American media quoted state police as saying that the shooting incident took place on the beachside promenade in Hollywood, Florida, when a fight broke out between a group of young men, one of whom pulled out a gun and started shooting. As a result, nine people, including three children, were injured. They were taken to hospital, and their condition was described as stable, while one person underwent surgery.

The police also indicated that one person was in custody, but they were looking for more suspects.

In recent months, mass killings have been frequent in a number of American cities, claiming dozens of victims, which has brought to the fore the calls for the need to limit the possession of weapons by civilians.
