OIC condemns Israel’s approval of 2,300 settlement housing units

JEDDAH, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned today the recent announcement by Israeli authorities of plans to build 2,300 housing units in the illegal settlements of the occupied West Bank.

Two days ago, Israel’s Higher Planning Committee (HPC) approved the construction of 2,304 illegal housing units for Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank, reported Israeli NGO Peace Now.

OIC Secretary-General Yousef Al-Othaimeen condemned the Israeli announcement and described it as illegal under international law and the relevant UN resolutions, adding that it was aimed at imposing a status quo on the ground and undermining the two-state solution.

He called on the international community and the UN Security Council to take decisive measures to put an end to illegal Israeli settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
