Palestine confirms 2,762 new coronavirus cases, 11 deaths

Palestine today confirmed 2,762 new Covid-19 cases and 11 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Alkaila.

She said that 1,164 new cases and six deaths were registered in the West Bank and 1,598 new cases and five deaths in the Gaza Strip.

Alkaila added that 1,410 Covid-19 patients recovered; 710 recovery cases in the West Bank and 700 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 64 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units and 161 others are currently receiving treatment at hospitals and Covid-19 dispensaries, including 14 who are intubated.

She said that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 91.3 percent and the active cases account for 7.7 percent. The death toll stood at 1 percent of total infections since the outbreak of the disease in Palestine in March of last year.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, Alkaila said that 1,150,913 people have been vaccinated in the occupied territories; 811,045 people in the West Bank and 339,868 others in Gaza. A total of 477,125 people received the second dose of the vaccine.
