Palestine confirms 297 new coronavirus cases, two deaths

Palestine today recorded 297 new Covid-19 cases and two deaths, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

She announced that 297 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and two others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 297 cases, 37 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 260 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as residents of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

She added that 230 Covid-19 patients recovered; 80 recovery cases in the West Bank and 150 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 22 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including three who are connected to ventilators, while 53 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.

Recoveries account for 97.6 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March 2020, active cases for 1.3 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 359,349 people have received the vaccine so far in the West Bank and Gaza, including 231,138 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
