Palestine logs 1,800 COVID cases, 10 deaths

RAMALLAH, Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 1,806 new cases of COVID-19, 10 deaths and 2,842 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24-hour reporting period.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said eight deaths from COVID-19 were registered in the Gaza Strip, while another two deaths were reported in the West Bank.

A total of 9,756 COVID-19 tests were conducted during the reporting period. In the Gaza Strip, 1,113 coronavirus tests came out positive, while the West Bank reported 693 new cases.

No update was available regarding the situation in occupied Jerusalem.

The Health Minister said that in the West Bank, 220 patients of COVID-19 are hospitalized, of whom 75 are in intensive care, including 10 on ventilators.

She pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has slightly rose to 91.7 percent, while active cases declined to 7.3 percent.

Deaths stood at only one percent of total infections.

Concerning rollout of vaccines, the Health Minister said over 1,292,600 people have received their first jab of the vaccine in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, of whom 564,640 have been fully vaccinated.
