Palestine records 1,084 Covid-19 cases, 14 deaths

Palestine today recorded 1,084 new Covid-19 cases and 14 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.

She announced that 1,084 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 14 others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 1,084 cases, 289 cases were recorded in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 795 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In the West Bank, Nablus district was ranked the first with (81) cases, followed by Jenin (52) cases, Tulkarm (39) cases, Ramallah & al-Bireh (31) cases, Hebron (26) cases, Tubas (18) cases, Qalqiliya (17) cases, Bethlehem (14) cases, Salfit (seven) cases, Jerusalem suburbs (three) cases in addition to Jericho & the Jordan Valley, which recorded a case.

Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as five deaths from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and nine others from the besieged Gaza Strip.

The West Bank deaths were distributed as follows: two in Bethlehem district, another in Hebron, another in Tulkarm and another in Ramallah & al-Bireh district.

She added that 2,043 Covid-19 patients recovered; 708 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem district, and 1,335 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 145 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 40 who are connected to ventilators, while 389 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.

Recoveries account for 92.1 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 6.8 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.

Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 253,937 people have received the vaccine so far, including 172,916 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
