Palestine records 681 Covid-19 cases, three fatalities

RAMALLAH, Palestine today recorded 681 new Covid-19 cases and three fatalities, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.
Al-Kaileh announced in the daily report that 681 Palestinians contracted the highly contagious virus and three others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 681 cases, 50 cases were confirmed in Hebron governorate, 81 in Nablus, 38 in Bethlehem, 17 in Qalqilia, 30 in Ramallah and al-Bireh, 26 in Jenin, 20 in Jericho & the Jordan Valley, seven in Salfit, eight in Tulkarem, 10 in Tubas, 259 in the besieged Gaza Strip, eight in Jerusalem suburbs and 127 in Jerusalem city.
Al-Kaileh identified the three fatalities as a 62-year-old man from Kafr Qud village, west of Jenin, a 75-year-old man from Tulkarem and a 50-year-old woman from Beit Ur al-Tahta village, west of Ramallah.
She added that 895 Covid-19 patients recovered in the occupied territories. The recovery cases were distributed as follows: 104 in Hebron, 38 in Jenin, 44 in Nablus, 39 in Tulkarem, nine in Qalqilia, 29 in Salfit, four in Tubas, 110 in Bethlehem, 129 in Ramallah & al-Bireh, 152 in Jericho & the Jordan Valley, 199 in the Gaza Strip and 38 in Jerusalem city.
She pointed that 35 Covid-19 patients are still receiving treatment at intensive care units, including seven connected to respirators.
According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 69,181.
Out of the 69,181 cases, 49,207 are recorded in the West Bank, 8,019 in the Gaza Strip and 11,955 in East Jerusalem.
Recoveries have totaled 61,033, including 11,496 in Jerusalem, and the death toll reached 583, leaving a total of 7,565 active cases.
Recoveries account for 88.22 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 10.94 percent and the death toll accounts for 0.84 percent.
