PCBS: Increase in Producer Price Index during March 2022

The overall Producer Price Index (PPI) for Palestine with its base year (2019 = 100) reached 106.38 in March2022, increasing by 0.89% compared to February 2022, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

PCBS said that PPI for locally consumed products (2019 = 100) reached 105.89 in March 2022, which indicates an increase of 1.02% compared to February 2022.

PPI for local exported products (2019 = 100) reached 110.92 in March2022, which indicates a decrease of 0.19% compared to February 2022.

The changes of PPI for March 2022 were traced back to changes in prices of the following major activities compared to the previous month: water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (+ 1.77%), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (+ 1.58%), agriculture, forestry and fishing (+ 1.17%), manufacturing (+ 0.66%), mining and quarrying (+ 0.11%).

The producer’s price is the amount receivable by the producer from the purchaser for a unit of a good or service produced as output minus any VAT, or similar deductible tax, invoiced to the purchaser. The producer’s prices exclude any transport charges invoiced separately by the producer.
