PM Shtayyeh stresses need for international pressure on Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian territories

Prime minister Mohammed Shtayyeh today stressed the need for international pressure on Israel to end its occupation of the entire Palestinian territories in order to preserve the two-state solution.

This came during a meeting between Shtayyeh and his Singaporean counterpart, Lee Hsien Loong, at the presidential castle in the capital city, Singapore. Shtayyeh arrived yesterday in Singapore on an official visit aimed at promoting bilateral relations and joint cooperation.

Shtayyeh discussed during the meeting the existing cooperation programs with Singapore and ways to develop them and the opening of a new horizon between the two countries at all levels.

He praised Singapore’s support to Palestine in institution-building, training, and scholarships, stressing the importance of enhancing the level of cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries.

Shtayyeh further briefed his Singaporean counterpart on the Israeli measures that destroy the two-stet solution, including settlement expansion, unilateral actions, extrajudicial killings, detentions, and daily raids into Palestinian territories, in addition to the ongoing violations against holy sites, particularly daily raids into the blessed al-Aqsa mosque.

For his part, the Singaporean premier affirmed his country’s keenness to strengthen the friendship bonds between the two countries and its continued support and cooperation in areas and priorities set by the two countries.

He also reiterated his country’s firm position in support of the two-state solution and UN resolutions.
