Presidency holds Israel responsible for escalation in Palestine

RAMALLAH, Friday, May 7, 2021 (WAFA) – Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, today blamed the Israeli government for the ongoing escalation in all of the occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank.
He blamed the Israeli government for the recent assaults on Palestinian families facing eviction in the occupied Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, as well as the fatal shooting earlier today of two Palestinian young men at a checkpoint northwest of Jenin in the occupied West Bank.
Abu Rudeineh said these latest violations, beside the illegal settlement construction, create tensions on the ground and violate all the resolutions of the international community.
“We hold the Israeli government responsible for this escalation and its repercussions, and we call on the international community to provide protection for the Palestinian people,” said Abu Rudeineh in a statement.
Abu Rudeineh urged the US administration to pressure Israel to stop its attacks “so that matters do not reach a stage that cannot be controlled.”
