President Abbas, Egyptian counterpart discuss bilateral cooperation

President Mahmoud Abbas and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, today discussed ways to maintain bilateral cooperation.

President Abbas and his counterpart Al-Sisi agreed to maintain coordination with regards to future positions and steps within the framework of bilateral cooperation during their meeting on the sidelines of the 4th edition of the World Youth Forum being held in Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh.

During the meeting, President Abbas congratulated Al-Sisi on the successful organization of the four-day forum, which is attended by the youth representing 196 countries and runs until Thursday.

He briefed Al-Sisi on the latest political developments on the Palestinian arena and Israel’s violations against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories, including against the holy sites in East Jerusalem.

He thanked the Egyptian leader on Egypt’s positions in support of the Palestinian question and his role in advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and independence.

On his part, President al-Sisi affirmed his country’s positions and role in support of the Palestinian question.
