President Abbas receives phone call from US Secretary of State, discuss Israeli escalation

RAMALLAH– President Mahmoud Abbas tonight received a phone call from US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken.

President Abbas briefed the US Secretary of State on the Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people in cities, villages, and refugee camps, including the blockades, extrajudicial killings, home demolitions, and settlement construction, in addition to settlers’ violence, and violations carried out against the occupied city of Jerusalem and its Muslim and Christian holy sites.

The president reiterated his demand for the US administration to compel the Israeli occupation authorities to stop these crimes committed against the Palestinian people, land, and holy sites.

For his part, the US Secretary of State affirmed that the US administration is exerting efforts and that contacts are made to end the current escalation and calm the situation.

They both agreed to continue contacts in the coming period.
