Qatar Chamber, Chinese Chamber in Hong Kong Discuss Cooperation Fields

Qatar Chamber and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong (CGCC) reviewed the fields of cooperation and partnership, especially in light of the great investment opportunities that the State of Qatar abounds in. This came during a meeting held by the Qatar Chamber today with a delegation from the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (CGCC).

HE Qatar Chamber First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari said that Qatari business sectors are interested in learning about the investment opportunities available in Hong Kong, stressing the Chambers concern to bolster cooperation relations between Qatari companies and their counterparts from Honk Kong.

Bin Twar also said that the State of Qatar is replete with a host of investment opportunities that attract international companies, noting that it owns a world-class infrastructure and free zones which offers many investment incentives.

In turn, Chairman of Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (CGCC) Dr. Jonathan Choi praised the close relations between China and Qatar, stressing the strong will from both sides to further develop these relations to higher levels. He said that there are many agreements signed between both sides which constitute a solid foundation for building new commercial alliances in a number of sectors such as infrastructure financial services, technologies, oil and gas, industry, and others.

Choi pointed out that the delegations visit to Qatar aims to explore the investment climate and enhance the economic cooperation, as well as review the most important sectors in which both sides can cooperate to establish joint ventures and inform the Qatari side of the investment opportunities available in Hong Kong. He pointed out that it also aims to build bridges of cooperation between the CGCC in Hong Kong and the QC, stressing that the CGCC has a strong presence in Hong Kong and includes 40,000 members.

He noted that Qatar has achieved significant developments in terms of the infrastructure, and has become more well-known, especially after hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022, noting that Hong Kong is a leading global trade center and that it is keen to cooperate with Qatar in all fields.

QC board member Mohamed Al Obaidli said that the Chamber is keen to strengthen cooperation between Qatari companies and their counterparts from Hong Kong, stressing the importance to benefit from all potential available in both sides to enhance trade and investment cooperation.

He referred to the Belt & Road Initiative, stressing that there is a Qatari interest in this project and that Qatar is one of the first countries to join the Belt and Road initiative.

QC board members Eng. Ali Al Misnad said that the Chamber is keen to build strong relations between both sides, praising the achievements made by Honk Kong in various fields.

He proposed the establishment of an office of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong (CGCC) in the Chambers new venue, noting that it will have a significant impact on developing cooperation relations between business sectors in both sides.
