QFA Announces Squad Regulations for 2023-2024 Season

The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has announced new regulations regarding the registration of players in the first-team squads of clubs in the first and second divisions, as well as the Olympic team lists of first division clubs.

This is part of the preparations for the start of the 2023-2024 season, as follows: 1. First Division Clubs: Registration of a maximum of 28 players in the first-team squad, as follows: 1.1. Foreign Players: Registration of a maximum of 7 foreign players within the 28-player list of the first-team squad. They are allowed to participate at any time during the matches, as follows: A. Registration of 5 foreign players, provided none of them occupies the position of goalkeeper at any time during the matches.

B. Registration of 2 foreign professional players aged not more than (born in 2002), with one of them allowed to be registered as a goalkeeper.

C. The selection of the aforementioned players will be coordinated with the Central Scouting Team.

1.2. Qatari/Resident Players: A. Registration of 21 players (Qatari/resident) as follows: 1. Registration of 17 Qatari players.

2. Registration of 4 resident players aged not more than 28 years.

3. Re-registration of a resident player (non-Qatari born) above the age of 28 is not permitted without the approval of the Executive Committee of the Qatar Football Association.

2. Second Division Clubs: Registration of a maximum of 26 players in the first-team squad, as follows: 2.1. Foreign Players: Registration of a maximum of 7 foreign players within the 26-player list of the first-team squad. They are allowed to participate at any time during the matches, as follows: A. Registration of 5 foreign players, provided none of them occupies the position of goalkeeper at any time during the matches. Three of them should be players aged not more than 22 (born in 1999).

B. Registration of 2 foreign professional players aged not more than (born in 2002), with one of them allowed to be registered as a goalkeeper.

C. The selection of the aforementioned players will be coordinated with the Central Scouting Committee.

2.2. Qatari/Resident Players: A. Registration of 19 “Qatari/resident” players (15 Qatari players + 4 resident players), including 10 players aged not more than 22 (born in 1999).

B. Re-registration of a resident player (non-Qatari born) above the age of 28 is not permitted without the approval of the Executive Committee of the Qatar Football Association.

3. First Division Olympic Team (First Division Clubs Only): Registration of a maximum of 18 players born in 2003-2004 in the first-team Olympic squad (First Division Clubs only), as follows: 3.1. Registration of 15 Qatari players.

3.2. Registration of 3 resident players.
