RAMALLAH, Seven people have died of the novel coronavirus pandemic in Palestine, and 976 others were infected by the disease – 864 in the West Bank in the last 24 hours and 112 in Jerusalem in the last 72 hours – and 585 have recovered, today said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.
In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, Alkaila said five people, aged 83, 80, 72, 64, 46, have died of the novel virus in the West Bank, in addition to two others, aged 69 and 78 in the Gaza Strip.
On the geographic distribution of the new infections, Alkaila pointed out that 54 cases were registered in Hebron, 144 in Nablus, 26 in Bethlehem, 27 in Qalqilia, 78 in Ramallah, 45 in Jenin, 18 in Jericho, 8 in Salfit, 37 in Tulkarm, and 8 in Tubas.
In addition, 112 cases were registered in occupied East Jerusalem in the last 72 two hours, and 13 others in the West Bank side of the Jerusalem Governorate. In the Gaza Strip, a total of 406 cases were confirmed.
On recoveries, Alkaila noted that 87.5 percent of the total coronavirus patients in Palestine have recovered so far, while active cases reached 11.6 percent, and deaths reached 0.9 percent.
The Health Minister added that 39 coronavirus patients are currently under intensified care, of whom 10 are on respirators.
