Soldiers, settlers prevent Palestinian farmers from accessing their land in south of West Bank

(WAFA) – Extremist Israeli settlers under army protection today denied Palestinian farmers access to their lands in the town of Tarqoumia, in the southern West Bank province of Hebron, according to local sources.

Suleiman Jaafreh, a local rights activist, told WAFA that a group of Israeli settlers attacked farmers while on their way to their agricultural lands, preventing them from accessing them under Israeli army protection.

Last week, the Israeli occupation army and settlers attacked Palestinians demonstrating in the same area against Israel’s confiscation of 500 dunums of Palestinian land.

Israeli settler violence against defenseless Palestinian civilians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli occupation authorities.
