Spain calls on the Int’l community to stop selling weapons Israel
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called on the international community on Friday to stop selling weapons to the Zionist entity, denouncing the Zionist attacks on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
Sanchez said in press statements, “I condemn the attacks carried out by the Israeli forces on the United Nations Mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL).”
He added that Spain has stopped selling weapons to Israel since October 2023, calling on the world to take the same action to prevent further escalation in the region.
He continued: “I think it is urgent, given what is happening in the Middle East, for the international community to stop exporting weapons to the Israeli government.”
The Spanish Ministry of Defense announced today, Friday, that none of its soldiers participating in the UNIFIL force were injured, as Spain deploys 650 peacekeeping soldiers in Lebanon, while the mission is led by a Spanish general.
It is noteworthy that the UNIFIL forces announced yesterday, Thursday, that two of its soldiers were injured by Israeli tank fire, and its headquarters in Naqoura, southern Lebanon, and neighboring sites were repeatedly shelled.
Today, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the Israeli forces’ firing on a force belonging to the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, UNIFIL, considering it a violation of international humanitarian law.
