The Minister of Trade Discusses With US Official The Strengthening of Cooperation with US Companies that supply wheat and rice

Minister of Trade, Atheer Dawood Al-Ghurairy, discussed with US Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kevin Shea, today, Friday, strengthening cooperation with American companies supplying wheat and rice.

A ministry statement said, “Minister of Trade Atheer Dawood Al-Ghurairy met with US Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kevin Shea and representatives of the US Department of Agriculture to discuss strengthening cooperation with US companies supplying wheat and rice, and exchanging views on ways of joint cooperation between the two countries.”

Al-Ghurairy confirmed that “during the meeting, they discussed the possibility of providing support to Iraq in the use of modern technology in irrigation and the production of grain varieties suitable for the Iraqi climate and specifications and increasing agricultural yields.”

He pointed out that “the US Deputy Secretary of Agriculture expressed his willingness to provide assistance and support to Iraq in developing irrigation and agricultural operations to produce grain varieties suitable for the climate and specifications of Iraq.”

He explained that “the meeting resulted in” the agreement, in coordination between the Iraqi Ministry of Trade and the American side, to visit a delegation of American businessmen and companies to Iraq during the month of June, with an emphasis on the participation of American agricultural companies.
