Weather: Very hot with rise in temperature throughout the week

RAMALLAH, Weather today is hot to very hot with a rise in temperature becoming 6C above the annual average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Wind is northwesterly to northeasterly, light to moderate and active at times. Sea waves are low.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 31C and a low of 19C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 30C and a low of 18C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 39C and a low of 24C, while it is expected to reach a high of 30C and a low of 21C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

PMD also predicted temperature to rise again on Tuesday to become 8C above the average with very hot conditions.

A slight drop in temperature is likely on Wednesday yet it remains above annual average by 7C with hot to very hot conditions.

Thursday’s weather is expected to be hot to very hot. Temperature is expected to slightly drop while remaining 6C above its seasonal average.

People are warned against prolonged exposure to direct sunlight especially during the peak hours of the day between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm local time, and against setting fire in areas where dry grass is grown.
