Ministry of Culture’s Pavilion at DIBF Adorned with Traditional Design

The pavilion of the Ministry if Culture at the 32nd Doha International Book Fair is adorned with traditional design that reflects the Qatari heritage.

Besides the books, the pavilion has several sections, including the music section, where traditional instruments are exhibited, the old books and manuscripts sections and the Qatari traditional attires and accessories.

The pavilion is attracting crowds of visitors from different nationalities, who wish to learn about the different aspects of the Qatari culture and heritage.

In this context, Head of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Culture, Nasser Al Malki said in remarks to QNA, that the design of the ministry’s pavilion was inspired by the traditional Qatari architecture.

The Pavilion showcases traditional items with special focus on the Bisht (traditional men’s cloak), which the ministry is preparing to list in the United Nations as one of the Qatari heritage elements.

For her part, Head of Translation Department at the Ministry of Culture Sheikha Rashid Al Kuwari told QNA that the Ministry is participating in this edition of DIBF with many different publications, including books on enhancing identity, in addition to a number of publications that were translated in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Doha. a number of books translated from several languages will be launched during the Book Fair.

The pavilion displays a variety of its publications in Arabic and English in the fields of literature, poetry, novels, children’s literature, theater, heritage and fine arts.

With the participation of over 500 publishers from 37 countries, the 32nd DIBF will run through June 21 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.

French President Emmanuel Macron and HH Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is visiting France, on Friday discussed bilateral relations and was to develop them in all fields.

2 Terrorists Arrested, One of Whom is the Official of the “state medic Services” in Kirkuk

The General Directorate of Intelligence and Security announced, on Friday, the arrest of two terrorist elements, one of whom is responsible for the so-called state medic services, and the other is a prominent leader and brother of the so-called Minister of War of ISIS terrorist gangs in Kirkuk.

The Directorate stated in a statement: “The operation was carried out based on accurate intelligence information and in coordination with the Kirkuk Operations Command Commando Regiment and the Kirkuk Police Command storming force, and in cooperation with the Sulaymaniyah Counter-Terrorism Directorate.”

Imam Of The Holy Friday Prayer Of Najaf: We Commend The Iraqi-Arab Relations Within The Centrality Of The New Iraq

The imam of the Friday prayer of al-Najaf, Sadr al-Din al-Qabbanji, said, “Iraq today is witnessing a development in its Arab relations, with mutual visits by officials, as Iraq returns to its pivotal role.”

Al-Qabbanji said in the Friday sermon he delivered today in the Great Fatimid Hussainiya in Najaf: “The visit of the Emir of Qatar to Iraq and the visit of the Prime Minister to Egypt comes within the centrality of Iraq and the reality that we have imposed on the world and the need for Iraq’s participation in all fields at the Arab level.”

On the anniversary of the blessed fatwa, Al-Qabbanji said: “This fatwa failed the great conspiracy against the Islamic world, thanks to the call of the ascetic scholar, Imam Ali al-Sistani.”

He added: “Here we pay tribute to the popular mobilization forces, al-Hawzah in Najaf, and the families of the martyrs to whom we are indebted, and we can only fulfill them by following their path.”

A source in the Nineveh police told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: “Two brothers were killed by their third brother by a gun, due to family disputes in Wadi Al-Ain, west of Mosul.”

The source added: “The police arrested the perpetrator and referred him to the judiciary.”

Saudi Min: OPEC, OPEC+ achieve stable oil price

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and OPEC+ alliance succeeded in achieving stable oil price that will benefit member states and oil industry in general, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud said Friday.

The Saudi minister made the statement during a celebration hosted by the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, today marking the Diamond Anniversary of OPEC’s founding, in the presence of oil and energy ministers of some member states, including Kuwaiti acting minister.

The OPEC achieved the purpose of its founding and enhanced its march through the Saudi proposal on founding the OPEC+ alliance, which helped the organization achieve its aims, he said.

Both OPEC and OPEC+ have succeeded in achieved stability in markets, thanks to consensus amongst, and interest of, all OPEC member states, amid these current conditions, economic fluctuations and uncertainty facing the world, he elaborated.

The minister lauded the results of the OPEC meeting in Vienna, stressing that its outcomes supported member states and made tranquillity to oil investors. Meanwhile, OPEC Secretary General Haitahm Al-Gais said the organization played a pivotal role in maintaining stability and balance in energy markets across the world.

Speaking in the same celebration, Al-Gais indicated that the historical agreement on establishing the organization in 1960 contributed to maintaining the sovereign right of the five constituent countries to their natural wealth, mainly oil, and drawing up a new global path, which benefited all oil-producing countries.

Therefore, the organization normally grew to reach its current position as a vital and effective member in international energy sector, he stated.

Consequently, the number of members rose to 13 that follow the same principles on which the bloc was founded that include cooperation, dialogue and mutual respect, he clarified.

The OPEC will continue playing its pivotal role in energy markets to maintain their balance and stability for the generations of today and future, Al-Gais concluded.

Oil Min.: Kuwait working to be secure source of energy

Kuwaiti Minister of Finance, Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment and Acting Minister of Oil Manaf Al-Hajeri said Friday that Kuwait is investing and working within its announced strategic plans to continue playing an enhanced role within the world as a secure source of energy and calls on the world to invest in all kinds of energy to ensure that the world’s growing needs are met.

This came in a speech delivered by Al-Hajeri before the ceremony hosted by the capital, Baghdad, on the 63rd anniversary of OPEC’s founding.

The minister is honored to represent Kuwait, one of the five founding countries of OPEC, expressing gratitude to Iraq for hosting this historic event in Al-Shaab Hall, the site of OPEC’s founding.

It is remembered that the five founding countries met in Al-Shaab Hall to establish OPEC between September 10-14 in 1960, he said.

OPEC confirms, through its main objectives and in accordance with its basic system and long-term strategy, its commitment to the security and stability of the global oil markets, and is keen to strengthen cooperation frameworks with other producers, dialogue with all influential groups of stakeholders in the industry, and grip concerns such as sustainable development, preserving the environment, energy scarcity and other challenges, he added.

The signing of the historic and unprecedented Declaration of Cooperation (DoC) in 2016 resulted in effectively supporting stability in the global oil market, where according to DoC, OPEC is working with 10 non-OPEC producing countries in order to maintain the stability of oil markets, he mentioned.

The challenges of the future will enhance the role of OPEC to ensure a smooth and balanced transition of energy that supports the global economy and industry and is in the interest of humans and the environment, he pointed out.

He concluded by saying that cooperation and dialogue have played an effective role in OPEC’s work for over six decades, and undoubtedly this role will continue in the future for the benefit of producers, consumers, investors and the global economy as a whole.

GCC chief Al Budaiwi: EU remains a very important strategic partner

Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) Jasem Al Budaiwi Friday met with EU High Representative Josep Borrell in Brussels, discussing bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

“The meeting with Mr. Borrell was very important and comprehensive. We discussed issues that are related to GCC and EU and other topics related to regional files,” Al Budaiwi told the Kuwait News agency (KUNA) after the meeting.

“Mr. Borrell is a great friend to the region and we expressed our appreciation to the efforts that the EU has been exerting towards the GCC region,” said the chief of GCC which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Al Budaiwi expressed appreciation for the EU adoption in May 2022 a “Communication on Strategic Partnership with the Gulf,” as well as for recent appointment of an EU special representative for the Gulf, Luigi de Maio, a former Italian foreign minister.

Moreover, the GCC chief revealed that the discussions with Borrel dealt with the upcoming joint ministerial meeting between the 27-member European bloc and the six-member GCC, due in the Omani capital Muscat on October 10.

“We touched on issues that we both need to cooperate for the benefit of the people in the GCC countries and Europe,” he told KUNA.

“The EU remains a very important and strategic partner for the GCC. The large areas of cooperation between the two sides prove this fact,” stressed Al Budaiwi.

“At the same time, the six Gulf countries maintain a great status in Europe of being a very important and strategic partner in a number of sectors like trade, energy, investment and construction,” he said.

“Our presence as GCC in Europe is visible and appreciated and positive and has a big presence in the European markets, in the energy sector, healthcare, education and renewable energy,” noted Al Budaiwi.

He said in today?’s meeting they also touched on the issue of the UAE hosting COP 28 in November and on the topics that will be discussed at that meeting.

“It was a great meeting and we hope to benefit and come out with important results from the joint ministerial meeting next October,” he said adding that they seek to make this ministerial meeting an annual event.

Further, the GCC chief said he congratulated Borrell for hosting the “successful” seventh conference on Syria, held in Brussels on Thursday.

“Presence of GCC countries in the conference on Syria yesterday is an indication how seriously we take this issue and how much we would like to help the Syrian people to lift their suffering,” he said.

The GCC has a very clear and visible stand on helping the Syrian people and it has taken a major step since the outbreak of the conflict to help them, he said.

Collectively, the GCC countries have contributed with USD eight billion till now in helping the Syrian people, he noted.

Al Budaiwi served as Kuwait?’s ambassador in Brussels for six years till June 2022.

Jordanian army shoots down drone loaded with weapons

The Jordanian army said on Friday it had shot down a drone carrying weapons from Syria.

The officers at the border, in coordination with the military security services, detected a drone attempting to illegally cross the border from Syrian territory into Jordanian territory, which was shot down inside Jordan, said an official military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF).

The source added that the drone was carrying multiple weapons, which was seized and transferred to the competent authorities.

JAF will deal firmly with any infiltration or smuggling attempt in order to protect citizens and the security of Jordanian borders, the source noted.

Jordanian-Syrian border that extends for about 350 kilometers is constantly witnessing drug smuggling and infiltration attempts, prompting the Jordanian forces to confront the firmly.
