Agriculture Office in al-Jouf receives agricultural equipment

The Agriculture and Irrigation Office in Al -Jawf Governorate received equipment for the implementation of agricultural initiatives for the various directorates of Al -Jouf Governorate.

During the delivery, the director of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office in the governorate, Yahya Daoud, considered this equipment to provide a qualitative shift in the work of agricultural initiatives and build water barriers and dams.

He pointed out that this equipment will help fill and pave the roads, which were damaged, as a result of the torrential rains in the governorate.

USD down at KD 0.306, Euro up to KD 0.335 — CBK

The US dollar on Sunday dropped by 0.10 percent to KD 0.306 and the Euro rose 1.03 percent to KD 0.335, compared with Thursday’s rates.

The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) said in its daily bulletin that the British sterling pound rose by 1.34 percent to KD 0.393 as well as the Swiss franc that rose by 0.98 percent to KD 0.343, while the Japanese Yen stood at KD 0.002.

The CBK publishes daily average exchange rates that do not necessarily reflect actual prices of the currencies’ trade for the day.

OIC blasts terrorist attack in W. Uganda

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Saturday denounced as abhorrent the terrorist attack on a school in western Uganda where dozens of people were killed on injured.

Reaffirming its firm stance against all forms of violence and terrorism, the OIC Secretariat stated full support to the efforts of the Ugandan authorities to combat terrorism.

Nearly 40 people, mainly students, were killed and scores of others injured when militants, reportedly linked to the so-called Islamic State, attacked Lhubiriha secondary school in Mpondwe city, Kasese District, the Western Region, Uganda, on Friday night.

Saudi-US facilitators announce 72-hour truce in Sudan

Representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) agreed a 72-hour ceasefire across Sudan beginning at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, June 18, Khartoum time.

The ceasefire will last until Wednesday, June 21, according to a joint facilitator statement from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US State Dept., carried by the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday.

Today’s agreement stipulates that the SAF and the RSF will refrain from hostilities, including prohibited movements, attacks, use of military aircraft or drones, artillery strikes, reinforcement of positions and resupply of forces, Both parties will refrain from seeking military advantage during the ceasefire, the joint statement noted. They also agreed allow the unimpeded movement and delivery of humanitarian assistance throughout the country.

In light of the June 19 humanitarian donor conference, the facilitators called on the parties to consider the immense suffering of the Sudanese people and to adhere fully to this ceasefire and cease the severity of violence.

Should the parties fail to observe the 72-hour ceasefire, facilitators will be compelled to consider adjourning the Jeddah talks, the statement added.
