ACTA, QNA Organize Educational Workshop on ‘Code of Conduct and Integrity of Public Officials’

The Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) and Qatar News Agency (QNA) organized Wednesday an educational workshop on the “Code of Conduct and Integrity of Public Officials,” with the participation of several of the agency’s employees and affiliates.

The workshop comes within the framework of QNA’s efforts to develop the skills of its employees, establish concepts and standards of integrity and transparency, introduce the Code of Conduct and Integrity of Public Officials, and encourage adherence to the provisions stipulated in this regard.

The workshop reviewed the Code of Conduct and Integrity of Public Officials, which was issued by Cabinet Decision No. 18 of 2020 and contains 19 articles applicable to government agencies.

Director of the Control and Development Department of ACTA Amal Al Kuwari highlighted that the ‘Code of Conduct and Integrity of Public Officials’ emphasizes the promotion of the ethics of the public office to achieve the highest indicators of integrity and transparency in the state, enhance confidence in the public office, and provide more protection for public money. She explained that ACTA provides integrity and behavior-related training to state employees and financial institutions to help them develop the best procedures that prevent corruption and protect public money.

The workshop shed light on the most prominent definitions of public service and its ethics, the role of religion in devoting moral scruples, the impact of socialization, and the importance of individual awareness of the ethics of public office and work. It also discussed the benefits of applying work ethics, in addition to defining the basic rules of public office ethics and mechanisms for building professional values and culture based on the principles of honesty. It specified the relations between the employee and his superiors, subordinates and colleagues, job specializations, and the articles of the Code of Conduct and Integrity and their relationship to the work environment and the rules and behavior of the public employee.
