Bangladesh condemns Israeli attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque

Bangladesh has vehemently denounced Wednesday’s attack by Israeli occupation forces on Muslim worshipers while praying peacefully at Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest place, in occupied Jerusalem. ‘Bangladesh believes that the freedom of religion must be held as a fundamental human right and the right of practising religious rituals, particularly in the holy month of Ramadan, must be ensured,’ said the Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh in a press statement, as quoted by Dhaka Tribune daily newspaper. The statement expressed concern about violations of social norms, international human rights law and international norms, adding that religious freedom must be upheld to protect fundamental human rights. Bangladesh also urged the international community to take measures to end the Israeli violence in the occupied territories against international norms. “Bangladesh reiterates its support for inalienable rights of the people of Palestine for a sovereign and independent homeland and reaffirms its position in favor of establishing an independent state of Palestine on the basis of two-state solution,” said the statement.
