The Arab Republic of Egypt today condemned hard-right Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem this morning. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the ongoing Israeli raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque aim at imposing a de facto temporal and spatial division of the Islamic holy site, but maintained that these Israeli raids will not change the legal and historical status quo that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a purely Islamic endowment. The statement called on the Israeli occupation authorities to immediately stop all escalatory practices that may inflame an already tense situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
