Enhance the Emergency Response of Medical Providers in East Jerusalem RAWAFED, funded by Muslim Aid USA, kicks off in East Jerusalem

CARE distributes medical supply items to Al-Makassed Hospital, as part of CARE’s new emergency response project funded by Muslim Aid USA: “Enhance the Emergency Response of Medical Providers in East Jerusalem RAWAFED, in East Jerusalem.” The three-month project will enhance the accessibility to ambulatory and emergency services to Palestinians residing in East Jerusalem and the periphery.

Through this Project, CARE Palestine (West Bank /Gaza) seeks to address grave shortages of medical equipment and supplies due to the ongoing hostilities and from continuing to respond to the COVID-19 virus.

The Project will focus on enhancing the capacities of both Al-Makassed Hospital and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society through the provision of life-saving medical equipment and supplies.

The supplies include 14 different items that vary between medications, disposables, and equipment to benefit 41,500 patients, an estimated 900 staff members, and equip two Palestinian Red Crescent Society ambulances to better prepare and respond to emergencies in East Jerusalem.

Ayman Shuaibi, CARE’s Programs’ Manager, said: “Hospitals in East Jerusalem, and mainly Al Makassed Hospital, are important referral medical institutions for Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, and are also the main responders to emergencies in East Jerusalem along with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society-East Jerusalem.

“This supply delivery to Al-Makassed and Palestinian Red Crescent Society, generously supported by Muslim Aid USA, will contribute to providing quality emergency services in East Jerusalem,” he said.

The Project is implemented by CARE Palestine West Bank/Gaza and is funded by Muslim Aid USA.
