The Higher Population Council (HPC) recently took part in the Arab Council for Population and Development (ACPD)’s coordination meeting to exchange expertise at the pan-Arab level. According to a HPC statement issued Sunday, the meeting, which was held in Iraq, aims to exchange inter-Arab expertise and knowledge on population issues. During the meeting, the HPC Assistant Secretary-General,, Rania Abadi, presented Jordan’s plan to implement commitments of the Nairobi Summit for 2030-2021 and the Kingdom’s population “opportunity” and policies to invest its potentials. The participants recommended continued inter-Arab coordination to draft population policies and follow up on their implementation, launch national action plans to control population growth and strengthen role of civil society organizations and private sector in implementing population programs, the statement said. In addition, The event advised launch of sustainable economic and social policies to benefit from the “high” rate of the working-age population, build worker capacities for preparing annual periodic reports to follow up international commitments, and establish information systems to monitor changes in population indicators.
