The security and sovereignty of Iraq is closely linked to Syria’s, Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani said on Sunday, highlighting the matter as a chief priority to Baghdad.
Iraq stands prepared to assist Damascus in its efforts to overcome the conflict there, the Iraqi prime minister told visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Mekdad amid talks, according to a statement from his office.
Extending an invitation to the Iraqi prime minister to visit Damascus, the Syrian foreign minister said his country appreciates Baghdad’s contributions towards improving regional ties, added the statement.
