Israel orders demolition of two homes north of Jenin

Israeli occupation forces today notified two Palestinian brothers in the town of Al-Jalama, to the north of Jenin in the northern West Bank, about their intention to demolish their two homes, according to the town’s mayor.

Mayor Amjad Abu Farha told WAFA that the Israeli occupation army handed a notification to Jamal and Hesham Abu Farha, the brothers from the town, informing them of a military order to demolish their two homes under the pretext of lacking an Israeli construction permit.

He said the Israeli army also ordered dozens of street vendors near the town to remove their stalls, under the pretext of their proximity to the Israeli military checkpoint of Al-Jalama.

The area where Israeli occupation forces ordered the demolition of the two homes in the town is classified as Area C, the more than two-thirds of the occupied West Bank under full Israeli military and civil control.

The Israeli occupation authorities almost never grant construction permits to Palestinians in this area, forcing many of them to start construction without getting a permit in order to fulfil their housing needs.
