Israeli forces detain four Palestinians, injure others in northern West Bank

Israeli forces Thursday morning detained at least four Palestinians and injured dozens others across the northern West Bank, according to local sources.

They said that Israeli forces leading attack dogs barged their way into Fahma village, southwest of Jenin city, where they rounded up a Palestinian after breaking into and tampering with the contents of his family house.

While inside the house, an attack dog knocked the detainee’s younger brother, tearing his clothes and biting him. The soldiers seized the recordings of surveillance cameras.

Meanwhile, undercover Israeli forces, known as Musta’ribeen or Mista’arvim in Hebrew, sneaked their way into Jaba‘ village, southwest of the city, where they kidnapped a Palestinian after storming his family house.

Then, soldiers in military uniforms raided the village and opened fire towards youths who attempted to block their passage, causing dozens to suffocate from tear gas.

In Tubas district, the sources confirmed that Israeli soldiers detained two school students from the vicinity of Tayaseer Boys School, east of the city.

The students were detained as Israeli military tanks and other hardware were deployed to the east of the village as part of ongoing drills that have been underway for almost two weeks in the area and other parts of the northern Jordan Valley.

Such drills usually set fire to large tracts of Palestinian farmland and property in the northern Jordan Valley and result in substantial losses.

In the meantime, Israeli military vehicles stormed the Bethlehem city neighborhood of As-Saff, where the soldiers entered two houses and turned them topsy-turvy.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
