Israeli military clamps down on Palestinians camping near Bethlehem

Israeli occupation forces today raided a summer camp near the town of Bayt Jala, in the West Bank district of Bethlehem, and ordered participants to remove a Palestinian flag and a caravan which have been installed in the camp, according to witnesses.

Khaled Qassis, the camp leader, told reporters that an Israeli army force raided the camp and notified the participants to remove the flag and the caravan since they “annoy” an Israeli settler residing nearby in a land which he illegally took over and settled there.

The camp is being run and organized by the Arab Orthodox Scout Troop – Beit Jala, a local youth activity.

To be noted, all kinds of Israeli settlement activities in the occupied West Bank are illegal under international law, which prohibits the relocation of the occupying country’s population to the land of the occupied.
