JCC urges further cooperation with Saudi Arabia in vocational training

Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) Khalil Haj Tawfiq called on Saudi Arabia to boost cooperation in exchanging expertise in vocational and technical training during a meeting with a delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and Jordanian chairmen and representatives of sectoral skills councils. According to a JCC statement on Sunday, Haj Tawfiq said that the 13 councils are advisory and include experts representing employers, workers and official authorities in a specific professional sector, stressing that they would improve vocational and technical training and education in the Kingdom. He pointed out that Jordan and Saudi Arabia have close relations in various fields that have reached advanced levels of coordination and cooperation, especially in trade, investment, training and joint projects in many strategic sectors of added value. Haj Tawfiq, who heads the Retail Skills Council, underlined the JCC’s commitment to sharing expertise and technical knowledge with Saudi Arabia and the experience of the Jordanian private sector in sectoral skills councils and increasing cooperation to serve the labor market and advance the education and vocational and technical training sectors in the two countries. The visiting delegation was briefed on the private sector’s experience in the field of sectoral skills councils and the success stories. The goal of these councils is to propose a general policy for the sector and identify priority skills and training needs based on the requirements of the labor market for each profession, heads of the chairmen and representatives of sectoral skills councils told the delegation.
