Jordan braces for heavy rain Thursday, followed by warm weekend

Thursday’s weather will continue to be chilly and overcast in the north, central, and eastern regions of the country, with heavy rain possible during the morning hours, along with thunder and hailstorms that may be intense in some areas, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) stated in its daily update. The rainfall could result in flooding in valleys and low-lying places, while winds will be brisk and blowing from the northwest with occasional gusts, causing dust storms in the desert. The weather service issued alerts on foggy highlands, slick roads in rainy areas, flash floods in low-lying places, and low horizontal visibility. It’s probable that dust may also cause a reduction in horizontal visibility in the desert. The forecast for Friday predicts stable weather across the country, with a considerable rise in temperatures and mostly sunny conditions. The Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba will see mild temperatures, while winds will be moderate blowing from the southeast. On Saturday, mercury will increase significantly and end up being around the seasonal average for this time of year. The Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba will see warm spring temperatures, while most of the Kingdom will experience mild spring conditions. Today, temperatures in the capital Amman will range between a high of 14 degrees Celsius and a low of 5C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 24C, sliding to 15C at night.
