Jordan, Turkiye talk cooperation

President of the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) Hamdi Tabbaa discussed Tuesday with the Turkish Ambassador Erdem Ozan prospects for joint cooperation at the economic, investment and trade levels to strengthen bilateral relations between the business communities on both sides. Tabbaa said in a statement that the Jordanian-Turkish relations are “historical and long-standing,” pointing out that the joint Jordanian-Turkish Business Council with the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkiye, which was established in 1994, is one of the most effective and active councils, through which the association is keen to build a bridge that connects the business communities on both sides. He pointed to the council’s contribution to increasing bilateral trade and investment exchange, although joint investments are still below the level of ambitions, he noted. He highlighted the association’s prominent role in strengthening economic relations and attracting Turkish investments to Jordan through the joint council. He stressed that Jordan was able to maintain the stability of the investment environment and prove its position in the region as a safe destination for investment. The Turkish ambassador for his part stressed the importance of economic and trade relations between the two countries, expressing the embassy’s commitment to cooperation with the aim of linking the business communities on both sides, in addition to cooperation between the embassy and the association to promote investments in Jordan. He pointed to the importance of the joint Jordanian-Turkish Business Council, as one of the effective channels that revitalize economic relations. Tabbaa and Ozan agreed on the importance of activating the joint business council, holding a new session and focusing on preparing joint action plans targeting economic sectors of common interest between the business communities in Jordan and Turkiye.
