Newspaper Review: Israel’s killing of a teenager in Jenin focus of dailies

The three Palestinian Arabic-language dailies focused today on yesterday’s fatal shooting by Israeli occupation forces of a Palestinian teenager in Jenin, north of the occupied West Bank.

They said Amjad Fayed, 17, was shot dead and another one, 18-years-old, was seriously injured during an Israeli raid of Jenin.

On a different subject, the dailies said the Palestinian presidency strongly condemned the US State Department’s decision to remove the Israeli terror movement Kach from the list of foreign terror organizations under the US Immigration and Nationality Act.

The dailies cited a report by Defense for Children International which said that Israeli occupation soldiers used 16-year-old Palestinian girl Ahed Mereb as a human shield during an Israeli military attack on the northern occupied West Bank city of Jenin on May 13.

Al-Ayyam said a Palestinian citizen of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem was shot and wounded yesterday by an Israeli settler who tried to attack his home.

Al-Quds said three Syrians were killed in a series of Israeli artillery strikes on the southern outskirts of Damascus on Friday-Saturday night.

Al-Ayyam said the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called yesterday on the international community to impose sanctions on the Israeli occupation to stop its ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida and Al-Quds said Israeli occupation authorities ordered yesterday a halt on the construction of six Palestinian homes in the village of Kafr Al-Dik, in the occupied West Bank province of Salfit.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida quoted a statement by the Central Committee of Fatah Movement, which read: “Our Palestinian people will not stop idly by in the face of the ongoing crimes of the Israeli occupation.”
