Non-Compliance With The Armistice Raises The Victims Of The Battles In Sudan

The battles between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces continued in several cities in Sudan in the conflict, which entered its second month, amid lack of commitment to any declared truce and international mediation.

The media reported that: Aerial bombardment and clashes with heavy weapons broke out today, Tuesday, between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in Kadro area, north of Khartoum North.

It quoted witnesses as they said that they heard the sounds of air strikes, clashes and explosions in the south of Khartoum, and there was heavy shelling during the night in parts of the neighboring cities of Bahri and Omdurman.

It added: The Rapid Support Forces clashed yesterday, Monday, with military forces from the Sudanese army inside the city of Al-Rahad in the Sudanese state of North Kordofan.

The sources indicated that several government buildings were burned, including the intelligence service building, and that the Rapid Support Forces withdrew outside the city.

The city of El Geneina, western Darfur, also witnessed clashes between the Rapid Support Forces and armed groups, as a result of which about 200 people were killed within two days.

In a related context, the governor of the Darfur region, Minni Minawi, said that the main and civil components in four states in the Darfur region decided not to engage in any war.

With the escalation of the fighting, the Sudan Doctors Syndicate announced today, Tuesday, that the number of civilian deaths has risen to 822, since the clashes began in mid-April.

The non-governmental medical syndicate said in a statement: The continuation of the clashes led to more casualties in the capital, Khartoum, and a number of states.

The statement added: The number of civilian deaths since the beginning of the clashes rose to 822 deaths and 3,215 injuries.

It pointed out: that the new deaths and injuries that were counted included the capital, Khartoum, the city of El-Obeid (south), and the city of El-Geneina in the state of West Darfur (west).

The latest toll announced by the Medical Syndicate, on Saturday, recorded 530 dead and 2,940 injured civilians. / End
