QSE Index Rises 17.65 Points at Start of Trading


Doha: The general index of Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) rose 17.65 points, or 0.18%, at the beginning of trading on Wednesday, reaching the level of 9,728.97 points, compared to yesterday’s closing.

The general index was supported by a rise in five sectors: Banks and Financial Services by 0.36%; Real Estate by 0.35%; Industrials by 0.32%; Telecoms by 0.10%; and Insurance by 0.02%. On the other hand, QSE index saw a decline in Consumer Goods and Services by 0.18%; and Transportation by 0.63%.

At 10:00 am, 33.210 million shares were traded in 2,614 transactions valued QR 91.520 million.

Kuwait Crude Oil Up $1.95


Kuwait crude oil went up by $1.95 during Tuesday’s trading to reach $89.12 per barrel compared with $87.17 pb the day before, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said Wednesday.

Benchmark Brent futures increased by $1.42 to $88.42 pb, and West Texas Intermediate climbed by $1.46 to $83.36 pb.

Old Doha Port Partners with Several Marinas to Provide Comprehensive Solutions, Exclusive Services to Boat, Yacht Owners


Doha: Old Doha Port has announced a strategic partnership with a number of marinas in Qatar, with the aim of enhancing cooperation to provide comprehensive solutions and exclusive services to boat and yacht owners.

The most prominent marinas included in the partnership, which is the first of its kind in the field of marine tourism, are Ronautica Middle East Marina (operator of the Pearl Island Marina), Banana Island Resort in Doha, Aura Group (Beef Bar Marina), and Resorts and Leisure Facilities Company’s marinas (Corinthia Yacht Club in Porto Arabia).

In a statement today, Executive Director of the Old Doha Port, Mohammed Abdullah Al Mulla, expressed happiness with the partnership which, he stressed, represents a pivotal step towards unifying the strengths and diversifying the experiences available to boat and yacht owners, pointing out the possibility of benefiting from the unique offers available in each marina.

Old Doha Port seeks to enhance the experience of participants in this event, to develop and
support the goal of making the State of Qatar a global specialized destination in the field of yachting.

He stressed the importance of this initiative, led by the Old Doha Port, to advance the culture of the maritime sector in Qatar and set new standards for luxury and excellence in service provision by pooling resources and unifying common goals.

UASA Board Annual Meeting Convenes in Doha -1-


Khalid Al Homoud, a member of the Board of Directors of the Capital Market Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and outgoing President of the UASA, presented the 2023 UASA annual report during the opening session of the Union’s meeting. In his presentation, Al Homoud reviewed the developments witnessed in Arab and international capital markets, as well as the most prominent achievements of the Union in 2023.

Al Homoud highlighted that 2023 witnessed significant developments and events that had a direct impact on the performance of global capital markets. These markets were affected by geopolitical changes and their repercussions on the Arab region and various world economies. Global economic activity suffered a significant slowdown, and inflation rates exceeded levels recorded in decades.

Despite these challenges, Al Homoud emphasized that Arab regulatory and supervisory authorities worked closely with capital markets and governments throughout 2023 to overcome the repercussions of various changes and c
rises in the financial markets. Member bodies of the Union took concrete steps in various areas in line with best international practices and standards.

During the meeting, the UASA board will discuss a number of issues and topics on the agenda, including reviewing the 2023 UASA annual report to be approved, in addition to several memos of the General Secretariat of the Union, regarding the completed initiatives under the UASA’s 2023 working plan,, the guidance on the best practices in the AML/CFT, the guidelines for crowdfunding in the Arab capital markets, the general rules for sustainability in the Arab capital markets, and the principles Guidance to enhance cybersecurity, and the needs of UASA members in the field of fintech and cybersecurity.

The UASA Board meeting will also discuss the signing of the MoU with the International Capital Market Organization (ICMA), cooperation with the regional committees of IOSCO, and the UASA’s 2024 working plan and program to be approved.

UAE, Oman Establish $35.12 billion Agreements and MoUs


The UAE and Oman signed Tuesday several multi-field agreements, memorandums of understanding and investment partnerships worth AED 129 billion ($35.12 billion).

The signing was done during the UAE-Oman Business Forum, on the sidelines of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s visit to the UAE.

The agreements and MoUs aim to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the fields of renewable energy, green minerals, railway connectivity, investments in digital infrastructure, technology, transportation and food security, in addition to forming an UAE-Omani alliance to enhance bilateral trade and economic relations.

Salam International’s Profits Rises 36 Percent in First Quarter of 2024


Doha: The net profits of Salam International Q.P.S.C. in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to QR 11,331,712 million, an increase of 36 percent compared to a net profit of QR 8,377,065 for the same period of the previous year.

According to data issued by the company that was published Wednesday on the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) website, there was an increase in Earnings per Share (EPS) to QR 0.010, compared to an EPS of QR 0.006 for the same period in 2023.

Israeli Aggression on Gaza Kills 34,262 Palestinians, Injures 77,229 Others


The israeli occupation’s ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip killed at least 34,262 Palestinians and injured at least 77,229 others.

Health sources said that the israeli occupation forces committed six massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, killing 79 Palestinians and injuring 86 others, during the past 24 hours.

Many victims are still under the rubble and on the streets, where ambulance and civil defense cannot reach them as the israeli occupation prevents them from doing so, the sources added.

The israeli occupation’s intense and unprecedented aggression against the Gaza Strip has continued for 201 consecutive days, launching dozens of air strikes and shelling by land and sea, and bombing health facilities, residential areas and citizens’ homes and demolishing them with their residents inside – killing and wounding tens of thousands of Palestinians.

The israeli occupation has left behind an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy, as hundreds of thousands of residents of the Gaza Strip live in very d
ifficult conditions in light of the occupation preventing the arrival of humanitarian aid and the lack of water, food, medicine and fuel.

Foreign Ministers of Oman, Serbia Discuss Enhancing Cooperation


Omani Foreign Minister Badr Hamad Al Busaidi discussed in a phone call with his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic the cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop it.

During the call, the two ministers reviewed the efforts made to complete the signing of the double taxation avoidance agreement between the two countries.

The two sides discussed a number of regional developments and issues, emphasizing the need to use dialogue and constructive consultation to reach effective solutions that achieve stability and peace for all.

Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets Greek Foreign Minister


Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met on Wednesday at his Amiri Diwan office with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic George Gerapetritis, who is visiting the country.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them, in addition to discussing developments in the region and ways for de-escalation, notably stopping the war in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian Woman killed by Occupation Gunfire in West Bank


A Palestinian woman was shot dead on Wednesday by Israeli occupation forces, near the village of Beit Ainun, north of Hebron in the West Bank.

Sources said that the 20-year-old woman, Maimouna Abdel Hamid Harahsheh, was fatally shot in the head by Israeli soldiers, and was deliberately left to bleed to death. The occupation prevented ambulance crews to reach her, as they are still detaining her body.

Various parts of the occupied West Bank and Occupied Jerusalem are subjected to daily raids and incursions into villages and towns by the Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by clashes, arrests, and the firing of live and rubber bullets as well as toxic tear gas bombs at Palestinian youth. The pace of these violent acts increased in conjunction with the unprecedented and ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip for 201 consecutive days, as they have already killed more than 34,000 Palestinians and injured more than 77,000 others.

Turkish Security Forces Arrest 11 ISIS Suspects


Turkish authorities arrested 11 people suspected of belonging to ISIS, in a security operation in Izmir, west of the country.

Security sources reported Wednesday that teams from the Counter Terrorism Division in Izmir and the Intelligence Directorate, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, carried out a simultaneous security operation on 13 locations in Izmir for ISIS suspects.

Teams arrested 11 of the 13 wanted suspects, in addition to seizing large quantities of digital materials and four banned publications during the inspection operations. Meanwhile, efforts are continuing to arrest two other suspects, sources added.

For years, the Turkish police and army forces have been pursuing members of armed organizations, including ISIS, inside the country and on the borders with Syria and Iraq.

Three Militants Killed in Security Operation in Southwest Pakistan


Three gunmen were killed during a security operation carried out by Pakistani army forces in Balochistan province, southwestern Pakistan.

The Pakistani army said in a statement that their forces carried out a security operation in Pishin District, killing three gunmen and arresting one Afghan militant. Additionally, a quantity of weapons in the possession of the militants was confiscated, Pakistani news agency reported.

The Pakistani forces have been carrying out security operations in various regions of the country to eliminate armed groups.
