Palestinian Broadcasting Cooperation, Information Ministry condemn Israeli decision to close media office providing official Palestinian media with services in Jerusalem

The official Palestinian Broadcasting Cooperation (PBC) and the Ministry of Information condemned today the decision of the extremist Israeli “national security” minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, to close the office of the company that provides media production services to the Palestinian official media in Jerusalem.

In a statement, PBC, which includes Palestine TV and Voice of Palestine radio, confirmed that the decision will not prevent it from continuing its media coverage in occupied Jerusalem to reveal the suffering and steadfastness of Jerusalemites in the face of the Israeli war machine.

It also emphasized that Jerusalem was, is, and will remain the capital of the State of Palestine, noting that this measure demonstrates the falsehood of what Israel claims to be a democratic state that respects media work and freedom of opinion and expression.

PBC called on international human rights and media institutions to assume their responsibilities regarding this decision.

It should be noted that the occupation government closed Jerusalem’s PBC office in 2018 under false pretexts.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information considered the decision of the extremist Israeli minister as part of the open and fierce aggression of the occupation against the Palestinian people.

In a statement, the ministry affirmed that “Voice of Palestine” radio, which withstood the issue aggression in the past, is capable of facing Bin Gvir and his ilk, and will continue its message calling for getting rid of the occupation by all legitimate means.

It considered Ben Gvir’s allegations that the decision was made to combat what he described as “Palestinian incitement” as ridiculous, as it comes from an extremist who speaks out on a daily basis about terrorism and utters racism and incitement against everything that is Palestinian.

On Monday, the Israeli Minister of National Security, Ben Gvir, issued a decision to close the office of the company that provides media and production services to the Palestinian official media and to summon its working staff.

Ben Gvir claimed that this decision came within the framework of combating what he described as “Palestinian incitement”.
