Premier Shtayyeh calls for halting tax deductions, auditing tax offsetting

Premier Mohammad Shtayyeh today called on the international community to intervene to halt deductions of tax revenues and monitor the tax offset with Israel.

Speaking during a meeting with Canada’s Representative to Palestine Robin Wettlaufer at his office in Ramallah, Shtayyeh reviewed the harsh financial crisis gripping the government, a crisis which has worsened due to the ongoing deductions by Israel of the Palestinian tax revenues and the discontinuance of foreign aid, while calling on the international community to halt the deductions and audit the tax offsetting process.

He briefed Wettlaufer on the latest political developments on the Palestinian arena and discussed with her means for enhancing cooperation in line with the national priorities as he expressed his appreciation of Canada’s support for several sectors, particularly the justice sector, strengthening women’s roles in leadership positions and supporting the government’s efforts in combating Covid-19.
