Presidency says all Israeli settlements on Palestinian lands are illegal and they sabotage any chance of peace

RAMALLAH- The Palestinian presidency reiterated today that all Israeli settlements on Palestinian lands are illegal, regardless of who runs the Israeli government, and they sabotage any chance of reaching peace.

Commenting on what was reported by Israeli media about an agreement between designated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and fascist lawmaker Itamar Ben Gvir to legalize settlement outposts and establish bypass roads in the occupied territories, presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said that these understandings contradict all United Nations resolutions and international law.

He pointed out that these understandings entrench the settlements, lead to the confiscation of more Palestinian land, and undermine any possibility of achieving peace and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the basis of a two-state solution and in accordance with UN resolutions.

Abu Rudeineh called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and stop Israeli settlements, stressing that the Palestinian people and leadership remain committed to the national constants until the establishment of the Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
